SUSTAINING CULTURAL AND BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY
IN A RAPIDLY CHANGING WORLD: LESSONS FOR GLOBAL POLICY

Panel Discussions

Those interested in convening a Panel Discussion must submit a detailed proposal for possible inclusion on Day Two of the Symposium (Thursday, April 3, 2008). Proposals must include the following:

- Title (subject)

- Paragraph describing the panel’s purpose

- List of panelists (including affiliations)

- Language in which the presentation will be offered

- Funding ability (panels must be self funded)

- Panel organizer’s contact information and affiliation

- Completed Call for Participation Application Form

Note: Please review the Criteria for Selection list, to help focus your proposal.

Meeting space with auditorium-style seating will be provided to selected panel presentations. We will provide equipment for visual presentations (Powerpoint, slide, and/or overhead projection), microphones, and a table and chairs for panelists.

The Symposium’s Panel Discussions will run concurrently, with up to three panels scheduled during each 60-minute session. Symposium attendees will be provided with a list of panel topics to choose from.

Due to space constraints, only a limited number of self-organizing panel discussions will be selected from those submitted. Proposals will be evaluated for their relevance to the Symposium topic; additionally, panel organizers must confirm their ability to fund the costs associated with bringing all members of their panel to New York. (All participants must be responsible for funding their own round-trip airfare, accommodation, and other travel-related expenses.)

Deadline: All Panel Discussion proposals must be submitted by December 15,
2007

Selection notification: December 30, 2007

If you require a decision before December 30 (e.g. for visa requirements
to travel to New York), please state so in your email and we will do our
best to accommodate your request

All panel participants must register for the symposium by Friday, February 15, to guarantee inclusion in the printed Program.

Please Note: The American Museum is unable to provide financial support to poster presenters for travel or accommodation. For a list of hotels, student centers, and hostels in the neighborhood of the Museum, see Travel/NYC Information.
